“When you cross my mind “ Is collaborative installation and performance piece, imagined and crafted by Nick, and choreographed and danced by Jovick pavajeau-Orostegui. The piece is a 7x7 Foot massive arched box with a cutout painting on the front. Through the hole, the viewer can see into the mond of the subject. Inside, the choreography speaks about grief and the stages on getting over a lost love. The audience can relate to the main subject as ex lover returns and crosses her mind dancing around as her lingering memories. At the same time, he is also dancing his own steps of grief as his appearances become more and more spaced out, he fades in and out of her thoughts before finally sliding off to the side.

The artwork also comes with a poem:

North Pacific,

late August breeze,

So specific,

how I recallit All with ease.

Each chill, each shiver,

could make us leave,

Only delivered

good excuse to squeeze.

Wrapped up in each other

 like kids clutch their covers,

Clinging to these

fleeting moments by the sea.

In the morning, I'll fly east,

This baggage as cargo,

Autumn will come, winter will follow,

The phone calls will cease.

North East

late October grief,

Yellowing the distant greenery,

Sorrow-filled Kitsilano scenery.

Into each other's archives we sink,

Journal pages, smudged ink,

Blurred flashbacks, worn gifts,

Fragments, dust, and what-ifs

What departs , what endures

time is cruel, time is kind,

And I still feel you by the shore

when you cross my mind.

Nick Bodoin's exhibition "When You Cross My Mind" offers a poignant exploration of the artist's inner world, where lingering memories and unexplored dreams come to life on wood. Through his sculptural figurative works, Nick reveals the images that haunt his mind, from moments of nostalgia to hopes for the future.

In this series, Nick Bodoin questions the memories and emotions that remain deeply embedded in us, even when they are sometimes hard to let go of. He creates an intimate connection with the viewer by offering an in-depth look at the visions and sensations that inhabit his mind.

Nick's works stand out due to their unique technique of painting on wood, combining layers and cut-outs to provide a three-dimensional aspect to his creations. Each piece embodies an emotional connection between the artist and the viewer, inviting the latter to get lost in the eyes of his subjects and to feel the intensity of their gaze.

"When You Cross My Mind" is an invitation to explore the deepest corners of the human mind and to understand the hidden stories within the depths of our psyche. This collection is the culmination of his creative residency with Akermus, a project that delves into the profound connections between art and wellbeing. It is an exhibition that celebrates the beauty of art as a constant companion in our journey through life, allowing us to transcend challenges and explore our creativity.
